Project : Diversion and underground works on the M-111 road

Diversion and underground works on the M-111 road

LLEIDA-BARCELONA, Spain

This project deals with the access to the Control Tower in the extension of Barajas Airport, Madrid.

Formwork solution with two lower curved passes, in the form of a circle, with the same properties, both in radius and length, but not height, with the OF 7+500 2.40 m higher than the OF 7+400 and the transversal sections of the slab with the same geometry. The area at the centre of the slab has a 1.10 m edge, increasing at the sides from the initial 1.10 m to 2.10 m at the ends next to the case wall.
Significant features of the frame formwork are noted:

  • The formwork is divided into two because of its size, so as to avoid problems in formwork stripping (12.50 m distance between walls). These two panels have been joined using a U/R Bushing L=600mm.
  • To give shape to the formwork of the slab brackets, a universal brace was used, adding a custom-made angle.
  • The shoring in the transversal section is not symmetrical, as the loads from the exterior area are greater than those of the interior area due to the fact that the panel is wider. This is the reason why the shoring is separated in two towers on the exterior, and not in one, as in the interior. The shoring has been assembled at different heights, at one height on the central slab, and at another on the end areas. The bracing has been carried out in the form of the "Saint Andrew's Cross" on the transversal sections, because of the height and load the shoring had to support, and using a normal tubes and clamps on the sides, forming groups of two panels.
